About the provider
Blossom Care’s Services provide a safe, secure, consistent and homely environment with the highest level of care given at all times. We ensure that the home has a natural family feel in order to make the children and young people feel comfortable. The children are the heart of the home and centred on the approaches we take. We approach every individual child’s needs holistically and ensure that they receive the best level of nurturing and care.
We support, encourage and promote inclusive practice. Our well trained staff offer advice, guidance and support while allowing the children and young people to maintain a high level of independence.
Recreation
Children and young people are actively encouraged to participate in planning their activities and to identify hobbies or pursuits that interest them. Every effort is made to ensure that the young people have an opportunity to try new experiences. We at Blossom Care do this by doing activity planners with the children on weekly basis in the Weekly young persons meetings. One advantage of being located on the outskirts of a large city is that there are a wide variety of opportunities for leisure and recreation to suit all tastes. Children and young people will regularly visit restaurants, theatres, museums, theme parks (e.g. Drayton manor, Alton Towers), and the sea-side.
They also participate in various leisure activities such as ten-pin bowling; rock climbing; ice- skating, cinema. Where possible young people have the opportunity to attend various cultural and religious festivities in the community, including: Chinese New Year Celebrations, Ramadan , Eid, Christmas, Easter, St Patrick’s Day Parade, Gay Pride, and various carnivals. Children and young people’s birthdays are celebrated within the home. Where appropriate birthday celebrations are attended by staff and young people from the home. Birthdays may also be celebrated through house parties or by meals, or by activities the child/young person wishes to go on.
The Team
We are committed to providing the highest level of care and believe that the team is the core to achieving this. We provide regular training, appraisals and supervision. Time and commitment are given to the development and progression of every individual working as part of the Blossom Care team. As we are opening new homes internal progression will be a great opportunity for the staff to develop there careers in the care sector. We ensure that the team feels valued and individuals are rewarded and recognised for their hard work and dedication to the children and young people in our care, this is done through incentives such as pay increments, celebrations of significant events such as birthdays and team building activities.
Education
Education is at the heart of each child’s placement within our homes. Our aim is to provide each of our children with the opportunity to acquire the skills and qualifications to thrive and achieve their full potential.
As a care organisation, Blossom Care places high emphasis on children’s educational welfare and in assisting children and young people to meet their full educational potential and achieve their highest academic level possible. Where possible, it is our aim that the majority of children and young people attend Local Authority mainstream schools or special educational schools. If it is not possible for the children or young people to attend mainstream or special educational needs provision then it will be organized that the child or young person is home tutored.
Our main and ultimate purpose is to support young people back into mainstream or special education. This is achieved in conjunction with the young person’s LEA and any local resources available. It will be the responsibility of the child’s or young person’s key worker to remain in contact and liaise with the individual’s school or tutor to remain in knowledge of the progress of the child or young person.
Blossom Care will thrive on making and maintaining healthy and good relationships with all educational parties involved with the child or young person to ensure that they are receiving the best education available. A member of staff within each home has responsibility for maintaining links with the young person’s school. (This will be undertaken by the individuals’ key worker). As an organisation we will thrive to maintain strong connections with the individuals educational models, whether be mainstream school – personal tutor/s.
